PLATONICS
[GraduateDesign1, Instructor: Roe]
The project is a hypothetical ‘House for an Artist.’ In a sense, It was more a choreographed series of vignettes, rather than a fully functional house. Notions of entry, passage, place, hierarchy and orientation were investigated through the manipulation of an originating platonic cube. In my case, these vignettes involved exploring how to balance both the destabilization and reinforcing of the original cube as a perfect form. Acts of pushing, pulling, and folding of planes at regular subdivisions attemped to make a minimal, almost neoplastic, string of events which would reveal to the user both the intent of each programmatic piece, and the object's place in the landscape.
